Sugar Prices Rise On Better Offtake

New Delhi, Apr 30 (PTI) Sugar prices rose by Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following increased offtake by stockists and bulk consumers.

Marketmen said increased buying by stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers to meet summer season demand, mainly pushed up sweetener prices.

However, record output restricted any major rise in the sweetner prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices rose by Rs 40 each to Rs 2,880-3,000 and Rs 2,870-2,990 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also edged up by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,660-2,790 and Rs 2,650-2,780 per quintal.

In the mill gate section, sugar Simbholi, Khatuli, Modinagar and Malakpur hardened by Rs 25 each to Rs 2,765, Rs 2,790, Rs 2,720 and Rs 2,715 per quintal.
