Sugar production in Brazil’s Center-South region expected to decrease in first half of July

Sugar output in Brazil’s Center-South region is projected to be 2.951 million mt in the first half of July which is low by 2.6 per cent year on year, indicates the survey conducted by an S&P Global Platts of 10 analysts on July 21.

The sugarcane crushing estimate ranged from 42.3 million mt to 47.7 million mt as per the survey. The average estimate of cane crushing was 45.2 million mt, 3.3 per cent drop year on year.

Recently, according to a report by a Rural Clima meteorologist had stated that frosts have damaged the sugarcane crops in the center-south region of Brazil. The authorities estimated that the frost was stronger than the last one that had hit the crops.
