Sugar production in Nigeria to remain flat in 2022-23

Sugar production in Nigeria, in the marketing year starting from May 2022 to April 2023, is forecasted to remain flat
.
The USDA in its latest Nigeria annual sugar report stated that it is due to ineffective crushing in the last 12 months.

It stated that the internal security in the country has affected the agricultural activities in the country, especially in the sugarcane-producing region.

The absence of infrastructure has increased the cost of sugarcane production, it stated.
