Sugar production increases in Fiji

Fiji: Three sugar mills from Fiji have crushed a total 544,534 tonnes of sugarcane till date. According to the Fiji Sugar Corporation, the sugarcane crushed during the same period last year was 465,015-tonne. Nationally, mill performance remains good, with operating time efficiency 14 per cent higher than last year and average weekly mill stoppages 45 per cent lower.

The mills have produced 46,189 tonnes of sugar which is five per cent high as compared with last year figures. The sugar recovery also improved.

According to the FBC News, preparations are in hand to load the next two bulk sugar cargos – 11,500 tonnes to the USA and 30,000 tonnes to Spain.
