Sugar scam has cost Sri Lanka government Rs 15.9 billion

The sugar scam allegedly carried out by the importers has cost Sri Lanka Rs 15.9 billion in tax revenue. The data has been shared by the Ministry of Finance to the Parliamentary Committee on public Accounts (COPA) yesterday.

According to the local news reports, the scam has benefitted the small number of individuals to the tune of Rs 15.9 billion rupees in the past few months.
