Top gainers among sugar stocks were Kothari Sugars & Chemicals (up 4.95%), Sakthi Sugars (up 4.40%), Uttam Sugar Mills (up 2.95%), Simbhaoli Sugars (up 2.75%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries (up 2.14%), KCP Sugar & Industries (up 1.59%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals (up 1.46%), Rana Sugars (up 1.31%), Shree Renuka Sugars (up 1.05%) and Balrampur Chini Mills (up 0.97%).
The top losers were Ponni Sugars (Erode) (down 1.16%), DCM Shriram Industries (down 0.48%) and EID Parry (down 0.08%).
The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading 404.38 points down at 62879.81 and the NSE Nifty50 index was down 113.85 points at 18698.65 at around 10.55 AM.
