Pakistan: Sugar worth Rs 35 million seized from biscuit factory

Multan: Cracking whip on the sugar hoarders, the district administration seized 40,000 kg sugar under charges of embezzlement from a renowned biscuit factory in Mumtazabad area, reported local media.

The raid was conducted on a tip-off by assistant commissioner city Kahawaja Umair at a biscuit factory and seized the government imported sugar worth over Rs 3.5 million.

The team has detained an accused for storing sugar and shifted to the police station.

Deputy Commissioner Amir Karim Khan has issued directions to take legal action against the sugar mafia.

The officials have stated that the action will be initiated against the dealer who supplied 780 bags of sugar to the factory.
