Aurangabad: Considering the increase in area under cane cultivation, the crushing season in the state is likely to start from October 1 as against the end of October every season, said government officials, reports PTI.
The crushing season starts in October-November and continues till mid-April. However, cane crushing continued till May end in the 2021-22 season due to an increase in crop production. Sugar production in the 2021-22 season was a record 137.28 lakh tonnes, an increase of 31 lakh tonnes more than the previous season.
The sugar output this season is likely to be 138 lakh tonnes as against 137.2 lakh tonnes during last season.
