Sugarcane department uses drone to prevent locust attacks

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Cane Development department is using the drones to spread insecticides to prevent the locust’s attacks.

According to the media report, Sanjay R Bhoosreddy, additional chief secretary (Sugarcane Development) said Pooranpur Ganna Samiti has used a drone to prevent locusts attacks.

He said, “Drone was used in Jatpura village where it was equipped with a 10-litre container to spray insecticides on the locusts on Friday. The noise of the drone chased away the locust in large numbers and rest were killed by the spray.”

Starting from 11th April 2020 till 16th July 2020, locust control operations have been done in 1,76,055 hectares area in states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana by Locust Circle Offices (LCOs). Till 16th July 2020, control operations have been done in 1,76,026 hectares area in states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Bihar by State Governments.
