Sugarcane farmers are paid record cane payment in Uttar Pradesh: Governor

Lucknow: Addressing the first budget session of the Yogi government 2.0, Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel said that the farmers in state are paid record sugarcane price of Rs 1,72,745 crore from crushing session 2017-18 to 2021-22 (as on May 16), reports The Times of India.

Narrating the achievements of the government, the governor said, “The area under cane cultivation has increased from 20.5 lakh hectares in 2016-17 to 27.6 lakh hectares in 2021-22. From 2017-18 crushing season to 2021-22 (till May 16), the government has paid cane dues of Rs 1, 72,745 crores to 45.4 lakh sugarcane farmers.”

Ethanol production in Uttar Pradesh has increased significantly in the last few years. “Ethanol production has witnessed a rise, making UP the biggest ethanol supplier in the country,” she further added.
