Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers demand revival of Bidvi sugar mill

Saharanpur: Sugarcane farmers have demanded the revival of the closed Bidvi sugar mill. The farmers have gathered under the leadership of farmer leader Rajesh Toli and raised their demands.

Rajesh Toli said that the farmers are selling their cane at a lower rate to the jaggery units since the closure of the sugar mill. The government has not paid attention to the farmers since 2017 when the elections were held in the state. During election campaigning, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had assured cane farmers that he will find a way out over issues of sugarcane farmers. The issues continue to remain standstill even as the state government starts preparations for forthcoming assembly elections scheduled next year.

Toli has demanded the government should take steps to revive the sugar mill. He has also started preparations to launch an agitation to press for farmers demand.
