Sugarcane transportation: Truck drivers rush to Ponda Police Station over pending dues

Ponda, Goa: The truck drivers from Khanapur-Karnataka visited Ponda police station to file a complaint against Ponda-based contractor for not paying sugarcane transportation bills. Drivers claim that contractor had hired trucks for transporting sugarcane from Sanjivani factory, but failed to pay Rs 20 lakh.

Following their complaint, police called the contractor, who has assured the truck drivers to clear the pending bills within 8 days.

The truck drivers intensified their demand after they learnt that the Sanjivani sugar mill has cleared the contractor’s bills. However, despite this, the contractor failed to clear their bills, which irked the truck owners who rushed to the Ponda Police Station.
