Summit Agricultural Group plans to build world’s largest ethanol-Based Sustainable Aviation Fuel plant in US Gulf Coast

Summit Agricultural Group, a prominent agricultural service company, uneviled its ambitious plan to construct the world’s largest sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant based on ethanol in the US Gulf Coast. The plant, scheduled to commence operations in 2025, will bring an additional capacity of 250 million gallons per year to the region.

In collaboration with Honeywell, the plant will employ Honeywell’s advanced ethanol-to-jet production process. This innovative technology will facilitate the conversion of low-carbon ethanol into sustainable aviation fuel, thereby addressing the surging demand for low-carbon ethanol and fulfilling the growing need for SAF within the aviation industry.

Bruce Rastetter, CEO of Summit Agricultural Group, emphasized the strategic significance of the plant, stating, “By establishing this cutting-edge facility, we are providing an advantageous position to forward-thinking ethanol producers, enabling them to actively contribute to the ongoing mission of reducing aviation’s carbon footprint.”

The venture not only signifies a major stride in sustainable fuel production but also holds the potential to revolutionize the ethanol industry by creating new opportunities and markets for ethanol producers. The plant’s establishment will not only meet the rising demand for SAF but also reinforce the commitment to environmental stewardship in the aviation sector.
