Syria plans to revive sugar industry

The Syrian government is working on a plan to revive the ailing sugar industry. According to the media report, Industry Minister Ziad Sabbagh said that the Syrian conflict has caused the loss of over one trillion Syrian pounds to the industrial sector since the beginning of the war until today.

“We are discussing with Iran to revive the stalled and destroyed facilities. The discussion has reached the final stage,” he said.

The minister said that contracts have been concluded for the rehabilitation and investment of Maskana and al-Raqqa Sugar Company and Arab Cement with a national investor.
