Taiwan’s FDA asks businesses to mention details of sugar content in beverages

Taipei: Food and Drug Administration, Taiwan announced that freshly made drinks must contain label of sugar amount and calorie content. The rule will come into effect from January 1, 2021.

Lee Wan-Chen, an official attached with FDA, said that the amendment will be applied to the fast-food restaurants, convenience stores and beverage shops.

According to the media report, Chen said, “As per the existing regulations, they are required to label only calorie content however after the amendment they should mention sugar content as well. The businesses that fail to follow the rule will be fined.”
