Tamil Nadu: Minister assures to sort out cane payment issue

Trichy, Tamil Nadu: M R K Panneerselvam, the minister for agriculture and farmers’ welfare has assured to look into cane payment issue.

According to the news report published in The Times of India, while talking with reporters he assured to sort out the issue over non-payment of dues by private sugar mills to the farmers for sugarcane supply.

He was speaking with the reporters on the background of the first-ever agriculture budget that would be tabled in the state assembly on August 14.

“Once the agriculture budget is tabled, I will discuss the issue with the chief minister and urge him to organise a tripartite meeting to address the issue,” he said.

Minister said, “DMK government is fulfilling the dream of the farmers that were demanding a separate budget for the agricultural sector. The farmers will be self-sufficient in five years.”
