Telangana: Politician asks state to increase ethanol production

Hyderabad: Political leaders in Telangana have demanded the state government to announce the ‘Ethanol policy’ like Maharashtra and Karnataka that will boost the economy of the state.

According to the news report published in Thehindu.com, senior BJP leader Gudur Narayana Reddy said that the manufacturing units are coming up in these states due to the ethanol policy designed by them. The state is borrowing ethanol from other states for blending with petrol.

He said, “Two years ago, a similar request had been put forward by the Telangana Sugar Mills Association, but no steps were taken.”

Recently government had advanced the ethanol blending target from 2030 to 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
