Telangana: Untimely rain damages sugarcane and other crops

Medak, Telangana: Heavy rainfall in the Medak district and neighbouring region in the last three days has resulted in a huge crop loss, reports The Hindu.

Crops like sugarcane, jowar, paddy, mango, tomato and papaya are grown in the 1,500 acres of the region that got damaged in the district due to the unseasonal rainfall.

By Sunday morning, Ameenpur received 52.7 mm rainfall, Sadashivapet received 45 mm of rainfall and Ramachandrapuram received 38.3 mm of rainfall. Kondapur Mandal received 116 mm of rainfall which is the highest of this month.

Government officials including Agriculture officer Narasimha Rao and horticulture officer Sunitha visited several affected places in the region and prepared a preliminary report which would be forwarded to higher officials in Hyderabad for further consideration.
