This is the first sugar mill in Maharashtra to pay FRP within 14 days in crushing season 2019-2020

Kolhapur: Datta sugar mill based in Asurle Porle, Panhala taluka run by the Dalmiya Bharat Sugars has cleared sugarcane Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP). Sugar mill commenced crushing season on November 23 and paid FRP at the rate of Rs 2,943 in one installment. With this, it has become the first mill in the state in crushing season 2019-2020 to clear sugarcane price within 14 days of crushing operations.

At the beginning of the season, the farmers’ organisations demanded an additional Rs 200 along with FRP. And they are still firm on their demand.

The cane crushing operations for sugar season 2019-20 in Maharashtra had been delayed due to various factors. The 2019-20 season has already been delayed by a month because of floods and the Assembly elections and its results in the state.

In this season, sugar production in Maharashtra is likely to decline as the state had been impacted by flood and drought.
