Three employees of sugar mill booked for forgery

Pilibhit: Three employees of a Barkhera-based Noble Sugar Limited were booked for allegedly increasing the weight of a farmers’ sugarcane while taking the cane for crushing from the mill gate. According to the media report, security officer Umesh Kumar lodged a complaint in this regard.

As per Kumar’s statement, the trio work as clerks in the sugar mill. They were found doubling the weight of a farmer’s sugarcane on paper instead of noting actual weight. Kumar noticed this when Guddu, a farmer from Ujhainia Rampura village bought 60 quintals of sugarcane and the weight was noted at the mill’s gate. However, the farmer’s tractor-trolley was issued a weighing receipt — checked at the exit gate — of 120 quintals.

The clerks have confessed to committing a crime. They were booked under section 420 (Cheating) of IPC.
