Karnal: The top borer disease that was worrying the sugarcane farmers in Haryana has been brought under control, indicates the survey report submitted by experts of the State Agriculture Department.
According to the news report published in Tribuneindia.com, the agricultural experts have conducted a survey and concluded that the disease is presently at the economic threshold level.
The farmers have been asked to take precautions to avoid spread of the disease by reducing the cultivation of Co-0238 variety which is prone to the disease. The experts have also asked to use insecticides at a proper time and using the proper method to control the disease.
The top borer infects the upper portion of the cane lowering the production of the cane.
