Uganda sugar producers find market in Tanzania

Kampala: Uganda will export sugar to Tanzania. The Uganda government is trying its best to export sugar and has issued a statement stating that by the end of May first consignment of brown sugar will be exported to Tanzania.

Uganda President Yoweri Museveni met Tanzania’s representative Seif Ally Seif, managing director of Kagera Sugar Limited and discussed the issue. The sugar export will help the sugar producers from Uganda to sell their surplus sugar.

The deal has brought relief for Uganda which was trying to penetrate the Tanzanian sugar market. Surplus sugar of 48,000 tonnes can meet the need of the Tanzania market which is short of sugar.
