Mumbai: UPL Ltd said it has signed an agreement with Shreenath Mhaskoba Sugar Mill located in Pune for sustainable sugarcane production.
The UPL issued a statement on Tuesday stating that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) will help in addressing the farmers’ concerns and help them to reduce expenditure on input costs and increase sugarcane yield.
UPL aims to increase sugarcane yield by 15% with the help of Zeba technology over 10,000 acres of land where it will focus on lowering input costs and increasing farmers’ income.
Around 4,000 farmers from across 70 villages will be benefited from this.
Zeba, developed by UPL is a naturally derived, starch-based, biodegradable super absorbent and it increases the water holding capacity of the soil along with increasing the nutrient value of the soil. The Zeba technology will help in saving 600 crore litres of water and 500 tonnes of urea.
