Uttar Pradesh: Farmers stage demonstration at police station for pending cane arrears

Muzaffarnagar: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) protested outside eight police stations in the district demanding pending cane arrears.

The agitation of the farmers yielded results as the mills announced a payment of Rs 50 crore arrears.

Dharmender Malik, media coordinator, BKU said that the farmers have given a deadline of September 6 to the sugar mills to clear all the pending arrears, after which we’ll again turn aggressive.

According to the news report published in The Times Of India, Additional district magistrate (enforcement), Amit Kumar, said, “We’re in touch with managements of the mills, and are trying to sort the issue.”
