Uttar Pradesh: Farmers threaten to agitate if mills fail to pay cane dues within 15 days

Doghat, Uttar Pradesh: Farmers have demanded from the government to raise sugarcane price to Rs 450 per quintal and threatened to agitate if the mills fail to clear cane dues within 15 days of cane procurement, reports Amar Ujala.

The decision was taken by farmers in a meeting organised at Gangnauli village on Wednesday. Sugar mills owe crores of rupees as pending cane dues and the farmers want them to clear it immediately. They have also asked the government to declare cane prices immediately for the ongoing crushing season.
