Uttar Pradesh: Government plans to reopen sugar mill in Mathura

Agra: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the revival of the Chhata Sugar Mill in Mathura district that has stopped operations in 2008.

According to the news report published in Indiatoday.in, the mill was set up by then MLA Babu Tejpal Singh in 1978. The government has now allocated a budget of Rs 5 crore to reopen the mill that was closed for 13 years.

This is the only sugar mill in the Agra division which has a capacity of 1,250 TCD (tonnes crushing per day).

Uttar Pradesh government claims that in the last few years the state has taken various steps to reopen the closed sugar mills.
