Lucknow: To benefit the sugarcane farmers, Uttar Pradesh government has successfully integrated the sugar industry with ethanol production, said state CM Yogi Adityanath. Addressing the state legislative assembly, he informed that the state’s capacity has increased to 1,126 million litres annually. Due to which, it has emerged as the country’s top ethanol producer.
Yogi said, “During previous regimes, the UP sugar mills were either closing their operations or were selling mills at a cheap rate. Since we came into power we have taken steps to clear Rs 88,000 crore pending cane arrears.”
“When half of the mills from other sugar-producing states were closed down, all the mills in our state are functioning fully to their capacity,” he further added.
