Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane crushing season ends in Saharanpur district

Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane crushing season comes to an end in Saharanpur district. Out of the eight sugar mills in the district, only Deoband sugar mill performed well in terms of sugarcane payment. The remaining seven sugar mills still owe about Rs 234 crore to the farmers, reported Amar Ujala.

A farmer from the region says that the sugar mill is paying the sugarcane price very slowly. Due to this, the farmer is facing a financial crisis.

District Cane Officer Sushil Kumar stated that there is an outstanding sugarcane price of 234 crore rupees in the district. Notices have been issued to the sugar mills that are defaulting on payment. It is hoped that the pace of clearing outstanding sugarcane prices will accelerate.
