Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Research Council should develop new cane varieties and seedlings of improved cane varieties: Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy

Lucknow: In compliance of the orders issued by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath to make the cane research activities farmers oriented, Instructions have been given by Hon’ble Minister of Sugar Industry and Cane Development Shri Suresh Rana, to develop maximum number of improved cane varieties and maximize the multiplication of Cane seed of improved cane varieties so that farmers can get more yield and Sugar Mills may get more Sugar Recovery. In this regard Additional Chief Secretary, Sugar Industry and Cane Development Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy told that a review meeting of scientists of Uttar Pradesh sugar research Council Shahjahanpur and its allied centers has been organized and instructions have been given that it is the top priority of UP sugarcane research Council to develop new cane variety and to provide high quality disease and pests free seed of improved varieties. He Instructed the Directors and the Scientist of the sugarcane research council that is order to provide sufficient quantity of cane seeds to farmers, the production of cane seedling is also necessary along with commercial cane seed production in spring season. So that farmers can rapidly replace the CO-0238 variety which has been affected by Red rot.

Emphasizing the use of fertilizers in a balanced Manner, Shri Bhoosreddy said, that soil testing of maximum number of farmer fields should be done, so that the farmers can know what element is lacking in their soil. This will encourage farmers for avoiding unnecessary use of fertilizers and they can apply only those nutrient in which their soil is lacking. This will help in increasing their cane Yields. He also directed that the bio pesticides for example trichoderma ,metarrhizium, baveria-basiana, tricocard and biofertilizer like azetobacter and PSB etc. should be produced on large scale at UP sugarcane research Council.

Shri Bhoosreddy instructed to increase research activities on all the sub centres of Uttar Pradesh sugarcane research Council like Seorahi, Muzaffarnagar, Gola, luxmipur, KatiyaSadat, pipraich, Sirsa, Balrampur etc.

The in-charge of all the centers have been instructed to submit their detailed Development Plan of all the centers by 30th November positively so that seed cane production and other scientific activities can be increased at the centers.
