Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Sugarcane and other crops grown over 53,000 hectares in the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand have been affected by recent floods, stated the agricultural ministry, reports PTI.
Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi visited the flood-affected villages recently and said that the preliminary reports suggest that the damage is around Rs 38 crore.
Laksar, Khanpur, and Manglaur regions of the district were severely affected by the floods.
The affected areas will be declared disaster-hit and the government will provide adequate compensation to the farmers, said Joshi.
