Uttarakhand: We will take steps to clear pending cane dues, says minister

Sugarcane minister Swami Yatiswarananda said that efforts would be taken to clear the cane dues on the closed Kashipur sugar mill.

On Tuesday, in the departmental review meeting in the auditorium of the Cane Commissioner’s office, sugarcane scientists gave information about the new species. Minister of State Swami Yatheeswaranand said that the problems of sugarcane farmers should be resolved on priority. There should not be a delay of even a day in running sugar mills.

While addressing the reporters, the minister said that the closed Sitarganj sugar mill will be operational from this session.

Earlier, he had stated that revival of the closed sugar mill will benefit the lakhs of sugarcane farmers from Sitarganj, Nanakmatta and Khatima area. The mill would be run on the PPP model.
