Vigilance officials raid sugar mill

Hyderabad: The Vigilance and Enforcement team on Wednesday raided NSL Krishnaveni sugar mill from Appala village in Kottakota mandal and ABD liquor factory at Srirangapur village of Pebbair mandal and seized 142 quintals of PDS rice, 80 bags of urea, 44 bags of DAP, which were stocked illegally in the premises of the factories.

Assistant Station Officer (ASO) Rajender headed the Vigilance and Enforcement team to conduct the raid.

Talking to a leading news website, Rajender said, “During our investigation, we found that NSL Krishnaveni Sugar Factory apart from manufacturing sugar was also involved in the manufacture of liquor from the sugarcane molasses. However, when we checked the stocked items on its premises, we were surprised to find large stocks of urea stored illegally in the factory. We have seized 66 bags of urea from the factory.”

An official from the factory said that they have stocked the area to use it in sugarcane cultivation in 100 acres and not for manufacturing liquor.
