West Bengal: Spanish firm Travipos SA plans to set up ethanol unit 

Travipos SA, a Spain-based company, is planning to establish an ethanol plant in Siliguri, West Bengal, with a daily production capacity of two lakh liters. The total investment for this project is expected to amount to Rs 150 crore, according to Projects Today.

In addition to the ethanol plant, Travipos intends to allocate an additional Rs 100 crore to establish a modern concrete sleeper manufacturing facility in New Jalpaiguri. Furthermore, the company is exploring the possibility of setting up a five-star hotel in Siliguri.

Travipos, a subsidiary of PCM Railone, has a global presence in 14 countries, including Spain, Germany, and West Asia. The company’s expansion into the region has been bolstered by West Bengal’s ethanol production promotion policy, which offers financial incentives include a waiver on land mutation and conversion fees, stamp duties, and electricity duties.
