Yamunanagar: The sugarcane crushing at the Saraswati Sugar Mills (SSM), Yamunanagar will begin from November 16, informed the management of the mill.
The mill having a crushing capacity of 1 lakh quintal per day is one of the largest sugar mills in the country and the command area of the mill is about 90,000 acres which includes Yamunanagar, parts of Ambala and Kurukshetra.
The farmers are happy as the mill is starting the cane crushing operations earlier as compared to the previous season. The mill had crushed 162 lakh quintals of sugarcane last year. This year, they had set a target of 175 lakh quintal.
