Yogi government impact: Sugar mill pays pending sugarcane dues

Kushinagar: The strict orders issued by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government are yielding good results. Triveni Sugar mill has paid all the dues of cane farmers for the sugar season 2018-19.

Anil Kumar Tyagi, chief manager of the mill, said, “We have paid all the dues to sugarcane farmers. Farmers who have not submitted their bank account can do at the earliest to get their dues. Our commitment is to look after the benefits of the farmers”.

Issuing warning against the defaulter sugar mills, UP government had set a deadline of October 31 to pay all the arrears of sugarcane farmers. Recently, acting on a PIL filed by two farmers, the Allahabad High Court had instructed state government to clear dues of cane growers within a month. The petitioners have stated that they had borrowed loans from banks to grow the crop but are not in a position to repay as their dues are pending with mills.

Sugarcane minister Suresh Rana stated that the government is taking steps to ensure that the mills pay farmers their dues. Some mills have paid 100 per cent dues and remaining are in process to pay total arrears.
