Zambia Revenue Authority seizes 3,360 bags of sugar

Zambia has seized 3,360 bags of sugar that was being smuggled from South Africa in the country.

According to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), the sugar was smuggled on the pretext of transporting to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

As per media report, General Kingsley Chanda, ZRA Commissioner told reporters that he received information from sources that the sugar was being offloaded by five South African trucks in Chingola.

By the time they took action on the information the trucks, had left Zambia for South Africa, he said.

The smuggling continues in the country despite the increase in the security measures and the restriction put by the authorities in place, he said.
