Zambia urges foreign investors to invest in sugar sector

Lusaka: Zambia has urged foreign investors to invest in a sugar plantation in the rich vast plains of Manyinga District in North-Western Provinces to boost economic growth in the rural part of the southern African country.

International investors should consider partnering with Zambians by investing in Manyinga plains through the setting up of a sugar plantation, said Manyinga Town Council Chairperson Henry Sakuwaha.

The council is ready to work with would-be investors and would provide them with an enabling environment for their investment, said Sakuwaha.

The council has set up a district-integrated development plan and is expecting investment through this, he said.

Local people are ready to partner with foreigners in the sugar sector, he added.
