According to the sugar Commissionerate, as many as 185 sugar mills, including 93 cooperative mills and 92 private mills, in Maharashtra, have started the cane crushing season till December 13, 2021
The mills have produced 302.08 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 322.81 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.36 per cent.
Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum (43) sugar mills operating during the ongoing cane crushing season. The mills have produced 66.23 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 78.35 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.45 per cent.
Sugar mills in Kolhapur have achieved more than 10 per cent recovery rate. The mills here have produced 86.66 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 81.24 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.67 per cent.
