Farmers to sow wheat on an additional 15,000 acres of land due to early commencement of sugarcane crushing

Chandigarh, Haryana: with the starting of the sugarcane crushing season earlier, the sugarcane farmers are ready to clear their fields and start sowing wheat for the Rabi season.

The farmers from Haryana will be able to increase the area under wheat cultivation by 15,000 acres this year as the Palwal and Panipat sugar mills have begun cane crushing early.

State Co-operative Minister Dr. Banwari Lal said that the mills have begun crushing earlier by 20-25 days this year as compared with last year. “This will help the farmers to clear their fields from sugarcane and take up wheat sowing,” he further added.
