Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh: DM Indra Vikram Singh has given a deadline of one week to the sugar mills to clear pending cane arrears. He has warned of strict action if mills fail to clear the pending dues.
According to the news report published in Livehindutan.com, three sugar mills from the district are yet to pay arrears of Rs 119.31 crore to the cane farmers. DM said, “No sugar mills have paid the cane payment of crushing season 2020-21. They have been asked to make the payment on time.”
Sugar mills claim that they are suffering from a financial crisis due to low sugar sales. Therefore, they are unable to clear the cane dues.
