According to the media report, total 97 sugar mills and some small units have produced more than 2 crore litres of alcohol-based sanitizers till April 25. The sanitizers produced by the state sugar mills are not only fulfilling the demand of the UP but also catering the needs of other states as well.

The Yogi Adityanath government, considering the surge in demand for sanitisers due to Covid-19 infections had asked the Excise and Sugarcane Department to focus on the sanitiser production using ethanol and ethyl alcohol.
