Sugarcane farmer attempts suicide in Uttar Pradesh

Ghaziabad: Sugarcane arrears controversy is refusing to die down in Uttar Pradesh. In the latest setback for Yogi government, a 24-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide at a Haijpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Babugarh district.

A family member claimed that he (Dhirendra) was under stress as mill did not issue him the receipt (parchi) and his cane was getting drained in the field.

Dhirendra allegedly consumed poison after he failed to receive the receipt. He was rushed to nearby hospital after his relative found him in an unconscious condition. Now he is out of danger and recuperating in the hospital.

According to his relative, Dhirendra informed the officials of Simbhaoli mill regarding his grievance, but no one paid heed to it.
