The construction industry can use alternative fuels like ethanol and methanol to lower their fuel costs, said the Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, reports PTI.
Speaking at the annual session of the Indian Construction and Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA), he said, “The cost of methanol is Rs 25 per litre and the construction industry can bring down the overall cost by using these types of fuels.”
“Diesel of around Rs 100 crore is used in a road construction project of Rs 1000 crore and this cost can be reduced by using alternative fuels like ethanol and methanol. This will also help in reducing pollution,” he added.
