Domestic Market

Sugar prices were mostly stable

Domestic sugar prices were reported to be mostly stable across the major markets. Demand is said to be need based and lower monthly quota keeping demand and supply balanced which is keeping prices in the broader range.

In Kolhapur, S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,790 and Rs 3,850 per quintal, while M-grade sugar costs between Rs 4,000 and Rs 4,140 in Muzaffarnagar.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $496.60 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 17.56 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 448-6 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.75750s

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 84.364 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.6517 Crude WTI traded at $58.64 barrel. Sensex closed 155.77 points down at 80641.07 whereas Nifty closed 81.55 points lower at 24379.60
