Domestic sugar prices continue to fall; Prices at two month low
Domestic sugar prices continued their downtrend and trading at two month low on subdued demand. Prices were reported to be lower by Rs 10 per quintal in Maharashtra and Karnataka while were traded lower by Rs 10-20 per quintal in Northern India.
As per the sources, despite the lower monthly quota demand is said to be sluggish which is weighing on the prices. Moreover, rainfall activity is reported to be good so far this month over Karnataka and Western Maharashtra cane belts which is also making end users to remain hand to mouth.
In Kolhapur, S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,740 and Rs 3,790 per quintal, while M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,950 and Rs 4,070 in Muzaffarnagar.

International Market
At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $490.20 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 17.48 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 447-4 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.73000s
Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices
The rupee traded against the US dollar at 85.361 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.6633 Crude WTI traded at $61.36 barrel. Sensex closed 271.17 points down at 82059.42 whereas Nifty closed 74.35 points lower at 24945.45
