Domestic Market

Weak sentiment reported in domestic sugar prices

Domestic sugar prices were reported to be mostly weak across the major growing states. Prices have fallen by Rs 5-10 per quintal in the major centres. According to the sources, demand appears to be muted, putting downward pressure on prices. As demand remains subdued, sentiment is said to be deteriorating.

After a heavy rainfall activity during the last week over the major cane growing regions of Maharashtra and Karnataka, the intesity has come down and is expected to remain so for a week. Drier weather after a heavy rainfall is likely to prove beneficial for the crop development.

M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,930 and Rs 4,040 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, while S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,715 and Rs 3,775 in Kolhapur.
