Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were mostly stable

Domestic sugar prices in the major markets continued to remain stable on good off take at lower levels. Prices were reported stable across the markets of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka. As per the local traders, there were good inquiry in the last 3-4 sessions at current levels.

After a brief pause in monsoon, rainfall activity has started again over the major cane growing regions and forecast indicates good rains over major cane growing belts of South India and Maharashtra in the coming fortnight. And conditions are also favourable for further advancement of monsoon and may reach parts of cane growing regions in Uttar Pradesh by another 5-7 days.

M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,930 and Rs 4,000 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, and S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,720 and Rs 3,760 in Kolhapur.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $472.30 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 16.18 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 434-4 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.66500s

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 86.326 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.4955 Crude WTI traded at $71.40 barrel. Sensex closed 212.85 points down at 81583.30 whereas Nifty closed 93.10 points lower at 24853.40
