Indian equity markets closed higher on Thursday, marking their third consecutive day of gains amid easing geopolitical tensions.
Sensex ended 1,000.36 points higher at 83,755.87, whereas Nifty concluded 304.25 points up at 25,549.00.
Biggest Nifty gainers were Shriram Finance, Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel, Jio Financial, Adani Ports, while losers were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Tech Mahindra, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki, SBI.
Among sectors, private bank, oil & gas and metal indices up 1-2 percent, while realty, media indices shed 1 percent each.
Indian rupee ended 39 paise higher at 85.70 per dollar on Thursday against Wednesday’s close of 86.09.
