Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were reported steady
Domestic sugar prices were reported to be stable with sluggish off take at higher price levels. Prices inched higher in the last week of July on lower monthly quota and as end users are covered for the festive season, demand is said to be sluggish.
Currently, M-grade sugar is selling between Rs 3,980 and Rs 4,090 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, while S-grade sugar prices in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, range from Rs 3,860 to Rs 3,900 per quintal.

International Market
At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $470.20 ton, whereas the New York Sugar # 11 The front month contract is trading at 16.33 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 385-2 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.77750s
Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices
The rupee traded against the US dollar at 87.726 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.4443 Crude WTI traded at $64.23 a barrel. Sensex closed 746.29 points up at 80,604.08 whereas Nifty closed 221.75 points higher at 24,585.05.
