Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were stable

Domestic sugar prices were reported to be stable at higher levels with good off take. On the back of lower production and good demand, domestic prices are trading at multi-year high and are expected to remain higher with the tighter balance sheet.

On the crop front, good rainfall activity continued over major cane growing regions, crop conditions are reported to be very good.

Currently, M-grade sugar is selling between Rs 3,990 and Rs 4,100 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, while S-grade sugar prices in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, range from Rs 3,875 to Rs 3,910 per quintal.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $483.60 ton, whereas the New York Sugar # 11 The front month contract is trading at 16.82 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 373-0 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.74000s

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 87.437 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.3895 Crude WTI traded at $62.77 a barrel. Sensex closed 304.32 points up at 80,539.91 whereas Nifty closed 131.95 points lower at 24,619.35.
